The IRONMAN Triathlon Calendar: 2026 Into 2027

Event article hero image

A long-course season is a year-long project, and most of it is invisible from race day. The athlete picks an “A” race — usually a fall full-distance IRONMAN or a World Championship slot — and works backward through a 70.3 build race, a long base block, and a winter of unglamorous volume. This calendar gives you the fixed dates to anchor that plan, plus a warning section every triathlon coach needs in 2026: three staple races are gone, and athletes are still planning seasons around them.

How to read these dates

IRONMAN publishes its North American schedule in waves — the current-year races are locked, but the following year’s dates typically don’t land until the fall. Each entry is graded:

  • Confirmed — verified against multiple current listings for that exact date.
  • Provisional — listings agree on the race but differ on the day, or only the month is firm.
  • TBD / Pattern — the date isn’t published yet; the recurring slot is given for planning only.

The linked official IRONMAN pages are the source of truth. Where this calendar and ironman.com disagree, believe ironman.com.

The split-venue era is over. From 2023–2025 the men’s and women’s full-distance Worlds alternated between Kona and Nice on separate days. Beginning in 2026, both genders race the same day in Kona — confirmed for October 10, 2026. The 70.3 Worlds stays in Nice for 2026 and returns to Chattanooga in 2027 (host confirmed; date not yet published).

Marquee 70.3 build & qualifier races

The half is where the full gets rehearsed. These are the North American 70.3s athletes most commonly slot into a full-distance build or use to chase a Worlds slot.

RaceDateStatusLocation
IRONMAN 70.3 ChattanoogaMay 17, 2026ConfirmedChattanooga, Tennessee
IRONMAN 70.3 Mont-TremblantJun 21, 2026ConfirmedMont-Tremblant, Quebec, Canada
IRONMAN 70.3 Coeur d’AleneJun 21, 2026ProvisionalCoeur d’Alene, Idaho
IRONMAN 70.3 OceansideApr 3, 2027ConfirmedOceanside, California

(70.3 Oceanside, the traditional West Coast season opener, ran March 28 in 2026 — past now — so its April 3, 2027 edition is the relevant planning target.)

Discontinued — do not build a season around these

This is the section that matters most this year. Three races that anchored thousands of season plans no longer exist:

  • IRONMAN Arizona (Tempe) — the November 2025 race was the final edition (permitting/construction). IRONMAN is scouting a replacement venue, but nothing is scheduled.
  • IRONMAN 70.3 St. George — the iconic St. George course held its final race in 2025. Its North American Championship designation went with it.
  • IRONMAN Mont-Tremblant (full 140.6) — discontinued after 2023. Only the 70.3 and 5150 remain at Tremblant (the 70.3 is in the table above).

If an athlete has any of these on a goal board, that’s a conversation to have now — not in October.

2027 outlook

The 2027 North American full-distance calendar is largely unannounced as of mid-2026 — IRONMAN typically releases it in the fall. The recurring fulls above (Lake Placid, Wisconsin, Maryland, Florida, Canada-Ottawa) usually hold their slots year over year, but do not assume 2026 dates carry to 2027; confirm when the schedule drops.

Notable international fulls

North American athletes regularly travel for these:

IRONMAN HamburgJun 7, 2026ProvisionalHamburg, Germany
IRONMAN CozumelNov 22, 2026ConfirmedCozumel, Mexico

Using the calendar

Pick the “A” race first, then everything else falls into place: a 70.3 build race 8–12 weeks out, a long aggregation block before that, and a base that started the previous winter. The discontinued-race list is your first filter — make sure the goal race still exists before you write sixteen weeks of training toward it. Drop the confirmed dates into a Smagpie athlete calendar and periodize backward from race day.
