Athletes can now log workouts from their phone

For All Coaches

Your athletes can now walk into the gym, open Smagpie on their phone, and work through their assigned workout step by step.

The Session Tracker is a mobile-first progressive web app built for the weight room. When an athlete opens it, they see their upcoming assigned workouts. Tap one, and Smagpie walks them through every exercise with prescribed weights calculated from their personal 1RM — no mental math, no guessing, no asking “how much should I lift?”

A custom numpad makes logging sets fast — tap weight and reps (or time for duration exercises), hit save, and the rest timer starts automatically. The circular countdown keeps the athlete on pace between sets without needing to watch a clock.

After each set, Smagpie silently estimates whether the athlete’s 1RM has changed using Epley and Brzycki formulas. When the numbers suggest a new max, a suggestion card appears between exercises — the athlete can accept it with a tap or dismiss it and move on.

At the end of the session, athletes see a completion screen with total volume, training load score, and win cards highlighting personal records. Volume PR, best set on bench press, new estimated 1RM — the app celebrates the wins so athletes finish on a high note.

Athletes also rate each session with a Borg CR-10 RPE scale and feel rating, giving you a direct line into perceived effort alongside the objective data.

If an athlete closes the app mid-workout, no problem. Sessions persist offline and they can pick up right where they left off.

How this helps your coaching

  • For team coaches:

Assign a workout and your athletes see it on their phone with weights calculated from their individual 1RM. After each session, you get completion data — volume, training load, and any new PRs.

  • For individual coaches:

Your athletes rate each session with RPE and feel, giving you a window into perceived effort alongside the numbers. Win cards celebrate personal records so athletes stay motivated between check-ins.
